COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Little Chute Fire Department received community backing for plans to build its new fire station at 1105 Depot Street; it will break ground this spring. The department thanked local leaders (Village Board, President, Administrator, Finance Director, and Station Committee) for their support. WOSH-AM
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Energy analysts expect electric heating bills to rise 10% this winter, while natural gas users in the Midwest, including many around Appleton, may see bills go up $3-$8 monthly. Residents are advised to plan ahead as price increases could affect household budgets. WOSH-AM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Appleton Area School District surveyed 7,426 residents (response rate of 17%) and nearly 60% favored a $15 million referendum to help address a $13 million deficit and bolster student services. The board will decide in January if the referendum will go on the ballot for April 7. WTAQ
- ➤ A junior at Neenah High School was recognized on Thursday for creating the Angel Tree project to help children at Washington School of Early Learning receive Christmas gifts. Henry Coulman (the student) organized a gift drive in the library where local students have been wrapping presents for kids. WOSH-AM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Little Chute approved a new fire station with construction scheduled to begin this spring at 1105 Depot St. The facility, covering about 20,000 sqft and costing roughly $8.9 million funded by bonds, will address growing emergency service needs in the village. FOX 11
