- ➤ Appleton officials announced Wednesday that registration is now open for this year’s Toy Ride Along. The event, organized by Parks and Recreation in collaboration with the Police, Fire and Public Works, offers residents a behind-the-scenes adventure for their toys. WOSH-AM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A new historical marker has been installed outside the operations building at Wittman Regional Airport, displaying the original beacon from the first control tower (recovered by staff). Airport Director Jim Schell said the display honors the airport's history. WHBY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Appleton Area School District assistant superintendent Mark McQuade explained that new dual enrollment rules require high school teachers to earn additional graduate credits which may limit student access to college courses. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The TSA will require travelers without a Real ID to pay a $45 fee for a temporary 10-day pass starting February 1 at Austin Straubel International Airport (the fee will cover extra screening costs). FOX 11
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Residents applying for Wisconsin health care must enroll by Dec. 15 to avoid a January coverage gap since late applicants will see benefits start in February. Rising costs+changing plan options mean families may face higher expenses. WTAQ
- ➤ The FDA warned Appleton shoppers not to eat shredded cheese made by Great Lakes Cheese Co.-the agency recalled products nationwide after metal fragments were discovered. Consumers who bought these items should return them for a full refund to avoid injury. WOSH-AM
