  • Jaripeo Mexican Grill, a 20-year fixture in Appleton, will permanently close on November 30 as owners Oscar and Laura Sandoval retire from the restaurant business— they expressed gratitude to local patrons in a heartfelt post.  WOSH-AM

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Appleton International Airport will run 238 inbound and outbound flights during Thanksgiving week—welcoming 20,000 passengers as it expects to hit one million travelers this year. Airport Director Abe Weber said the airport will be fully staffed for the busy travel period and encouraged passengers to plan ahead for smoother travel.  FOX 11

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Wisconsin Department of Health Services said Friday that a CDC website update falsely links vaccines to autism—contradicting decades of research that found no connection. The department vowed to review federal communications and correct misleading information to protect family health.  WBAY
  • ThedaCare launched a Rural Health Initiative to bring care directly to patients in rural Northeast Wisconsin by providing home visits and tele-health check-ups to those who face transportation challenges. The program aims to manage chronic diseases faster and reduce long drives to specialty centers — a step to improve timely care.  WTAQ
  • Appleton Public Library launched a 'No Questions Asked' collection on mental health, substance abuse and grief that lets visitors take free books and resources without needing to check them out. The collection, funded by United Way Fox Cities (including an overdose aid kit and hotline info) aims to reduce stigma around asking for help (it is a trial to see if the community finds it useful) and was available during normal library hours.  FOX 11
