  • Starting Friday, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers launched a holiday light display at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute that features over one million lights (with train rides, photo spots and a Santa letter station) for families.  WBAY
  • The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign is underway — it aims to raise $2.32M and so far has raised $4,204 — and match events on Nov. 19, Nov. 20, and Nov. 21 will help boost donations.  WOSH-AM
  • Saving Paws Animal Rescue’s Appleton adoption center got a new holiday look on Friday morning when Decorate With Lights of the Fox Valley donated lights worth over $2,500 — the festive display now brightens the shelter day and night.  WOSH-AM

  • Officers Travis Koponen and Eric McLevige rescued a frightened kitten trapped in a storm drain during a night traffic stop along Marathon Ave and took it to Neenah Animal Shelter—where it will receive care—after hearing persistent meowing nearby.  WBAY

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A wood stove ignited a garage fire in Kaukauna on Thursday night that caused about $50,000 in damage—prompting the fire department to urge residents to keep combustible items three feet away from heat sources and test their detectors monthly.  FOX 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • Appleton's iconic Angels were restored with new garlands after a fundraiser and now light posts along College Avenue to mark the start of the holiday season—renewing a tradition since the 1960s—and residents say the updated glow brings extra joy as the city prepares for upcoming celebrations.  FOX 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Vladyslav Plyaka, a Ukrainian exchange student, spoke at Oshkosh West about his first-hand memory of February when Russia invaded, describing the moment his father quickly packed backpacks. He said he wants to inspire students while he studies in Wisconsin and remains unable to return home.  WOSH-AM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • WisDOT reported on National Seat Belt Day that 94% of drivers buckled up—marking the highest rate in 25 years, with data gathered at 160 sites and officials urging the remaining 6% to buckle up. The survey shows that ongoing efforts to promote road safety have made a notable impact.  FOX 11
