- ➤ On Sunday, local businesses and community members raised funds during a Veterans Fundraiser Soup Off at WINEaLOT by accepting five-dollar donations for soups donated by area businesses—this event supported the all-women American Legion Post 539 and its veteran programs. - ➤ On the Sunday before Veterans Day, The Barbershop. A Hair Salon for Men in Darboy gave free haircuts to over 55 veterans—an effort started by veteran Ryan Lonergran and barber Ashley Dern to thank local heroes for their service. - ➤ Maritime archaeologist Tamara Thomsen said that shipwreck discoveries have increased in Northeast Wisconsin waters, with 14 new finds reported last year—advanced technology such as affordable side scan sonar and remote operated vehicles has made it easier for citizen scientists to locate historically important wrecks.
