COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Northeast Wisconsin police departments have used funny family photos in a fundraising contest run by Police Lights of Christmas — residents donate money to vote for their favorite picture and help fund gift cards for people in need this winter. Pulaski leads with over $13,000 raised as voting, which began on Oct. 1, ends on Friday.  FOX 11
  • Ten community members including WHBY’s Hayley Tenpas will dance at Just Dance—a fundraiser that supports local nonprofits such as the Building for Kids Children's Museum—to raise funds before an event scheduled on February 21, 2026 at Fox Cities P.A.C.  WHBY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Photos taken Tuesday, October 28 show fall colors at local spots in Appleton like Plamann Park and Bubolz Nature Preserve—images also were captured at High Cliff State Park in Sherwood. The pictures reveal brilliant autumn scenes—inviting residents to enjoy the season's natural beauty.  Post-Crescent
  • Kids will enjoy Halloween at the Castle tomorrow at the History Museum at the Castle, where the event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.—children in costume receive 50% off admission and can explore a bone table with real and replica skeletons.  FOX 11
  • XRoads41 has announced its 2026 lineup for the festival on August 6-8 with headliners Jason Aldean, Lainey Wilson, Treaty Oak Revival and rapper Wiz Khalifa. Tickets are on sale now—prices will increase on November 7 at noon with options for general admission, VIP and Ultra VIP passes.  FOX 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Taylor Wilson, a single mother in Appleton who relies on SNAP benefits for her and her two-year-old son with a rare genetic disorder, said the government shutdown may leave them without help in November. She is stocking up on perishable foods—if benefits do not resume soon, she will face tough choices on paying bills and stores may tighten their orders.  WOSH-AM
  • Several Outagamie County towns will enforce new overnight parking rules starting November 1 to keep roads clear for winter; in Appleton drivers cannot park from 2—5 a.m. while other towns like Buchanan, Combined Locks, Little Chute, Kimberly, Fox Crossing, Freedom, Grand Chute, Greenville, Hortonville, Menasha, Neenah and Sherwood set bans until 6 a.m.  Post-Crescent

HEALTH NEWS

  • Diane, a cancer survivor who had a mastectomy in August, and her sister Andrea sew heart-shaped pillows to ease pain for post-surgery patients—donating them weekly to Ascension St. Elizabeth Cancer Center. They made over 120 pillows in two months and plan to keep sewing them one heart at a time.  WOSH-AM
