  • Appleton International Airport has added Gulf Shores, Orlando and Fort Myers as new warm weather destinations and expects more passengers during the busy Thanksgiving travel season—officials said they are already seeing higher traffic compared with last year and advised travelers to arrive early while checking airline apps for flight updates.  WBAY

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Passengers lined up from the ticket counter to TSA at Appleton International Airport Tuesday as holiday travel kicked off early with larger aircraft driving a 20% rise over last year, according to ATW Director Abe Weber. Local airports including Austin Straubel in Green Bay expect more bookings ahead of Thanksgiving and Christmas—signals of a busy travel season.  FOX 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Appleton organizations are hosting a three-day Lights on Afterschool celebration to show how after school programs help students learn important skills. Today at Kaleidoscope Academy, students will design light bulb-shaped yard signs while activities continue tomorrow at Franklin Elementary—this event is supported by the local school district and partners such as the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club.  WBAY
  • Kaukauna Area School District provided an update on Victor Haen Elementary’s construction progress after work began a month ago; crews have leveled the site and installed concrete footings for the foundation. The new school will include 4K and 5K classrooms as well as a gymnasium and is expected to open for the 2026-27 school year (photos were shared on Facebook).  WOSH-AM

  • Gov Tony Evers warned that if the shutdown continues Wisconsin's FoodShare program will run out of funds in 10 days—putting 700,000 people at risk—while urging those who need food help to call 211.  WOSH-AM

SPORTS NEWS

  • UW-Oshkosh will launch a women’s flag football program in the spring with new head coach Deante Jefferson from Appleton North High School—he said he is eager to help the sport grow in the region. The university chancellor noted that the new program may boost enrollment while details on costs and team size remain unconfirmed.  WTAQ
