- ➤ Appleton homeowner Kim Jones transformed her house at 1007 East Marquette Street into a spooky display to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Dravet Syndrome Foundation. The display, which remains through November 7, has helped collect several hundred dollars this year and almost $1,500 in total over four years. NBC 26
- ➤ Volunteer Fox Cities launched Make A Difference Week to encourage local residents to help by donating supplies, picking up litter, and packing toolkits for kids' mental health support—organizers partnered with Miron Construction on Monday to pack giggle kits at Catalpa. - ➤ Analysts say increased oil production from OPEC and allied nations has driven gas prices below $3 per gallon nationwide. In Appleton, drivers paid an average of $2.58 per gallon on Monday & experts expect prices to remain below last year's levels for the coming months. FOX 11
- ➤ Spectrum awarded Appleton-based VPI, Inc. a $35,000 grant on Monday morning at its Kensington Production Facility to support workforce development programs under the $30 million Spectrum Community Center Assist initiative. The grant, which brings Spectrum’s total support to $125,000 over the past three years—helped update technology and expand job training programs for over 2,000 local residents. WOSH-AM

HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Joe Toonen, a lung cancer survivor from Appleton, was diagnosed with stage three lung cancer even though he never smoked and is now cancer-free after more than one year of treatment. - ➤ Aurora Health Care hosted its annual NICU Halloween Costume Bash where families dressed their tiny patients in creative costumes to celebrate an early Halloween.
