COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Timber Rattlers raised $55,000 from eleven jersey auctions this season—funds that supported community programs like Fang’s Reading Club, Whiffer’s Fitness Club and Youth Baseball Camps. The team will open the 2026 season on April 2 at Neuroscience Group Field.  FOX 11
  • Pamperin Park's nearly 100-year-old suspension footbridge has been revived by NWTC students rebuilding the decking and railings—using donated materials from Drexel Building Supply and Toonen Properties—and will be closed Monday-Thursday for the next couple weeks.  FOX 11
  • Neenah Animal Shelter was completely full on Oct. 14 and has moved unvetted cats to other rooms—now the shelter urgently seeks foster homes and adopters for kittens, cats needing daily meds, seniors needing comfort, and barn homes for ferals. The shelter provides all the necessary supplies and support to makes short-term fosters a big help.  FOX 11

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Wisconsin drivers are urged by the Department of Transportation to exercise extra caution during deer mating season as crash numbers historically rise in October and November—more than one-third of last year's 17,000 deer-related crashes occurred then, prompting officials to advise drivers to slow down and use headlights in low-light conditions.  FOX 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Senate passed Senate Bill 264—known as Gail's Law—that expands free supplemental breast cancer screenings for women with dense breast tissue, honoring Neenah native Gail Zeamer who died in 2024 after a long battle with cancer.  WBAY
  • Winnebago County Executive Gordon Hintz will propose $555,412 in taxpayer funds for the Homeless, Eviction and Loss Prevention program in the 2026 budget—raising the staff from five to six to help local nonprofits stop evictions. The program has helped 75% of 997 people keep their homes.  FOX 11
  • The Outagamie County Zoning Committee met Tuesday at 9 a.m. to vote on a proposal for a new gravel quarry off County Highway A near Quarry Rd. in the Town of Center — with some neighbors worried the project could harm waterways and damage home foundations.  WBAY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ascension Wisconsin and UnitedHealthcare reached a new agreement Tuesday so that customers will again have access to Ascension facilities in the region — including the St. Elizabeth Campus in Appleton, Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh, and Calumet Hospital in Chilton, after coverage paused on Oct. 1.  WTAQ
  • Ascension Wisconsin finalized a new deal with UnitedHealthcare that guarantees uninterrupted in-network access for patients on Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid plans so they can continue receiving care at hospitals, clinics, and outpatient facilities. CEO Daniel Jackson said the agreement supports fair reimbursement and compassionate care—reinforcing the hospital system's commitment to its community.  WOSH-AM
