COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A stray kitten caused a stir at Fox Valley Technical College—staff and campus security rescued her after she jumped from one car to another—and a student immediately adopted her and named her Pumpernickel.  WBAY
  • Ernie Stevens Jr.—chairman of the Indian Gaming Association for the Oneida Nation—died suddenly on September 26th at 66. His son confirmed the loss and said his leadership drove record gaming revenues and strengthened tribal sovereignty.  WTAQ
  • On Sunday, Neenah’s Hawley-Dieckhoff American Legion Post 33 held its Gold Star Luminary Event to honor families of U.S. military members killed while defending our country—attendees took part in a gun salute, singing patriotic songs, and lighting golden candles to remember the fallen.  WOSH-AM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, September 29th, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved a license renewal for Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Two Creeks—extending Unit 1 operations through 2050 and Unit 2 through 2053. The decision ensures that the plant will provide reliable, low-cost electricity—powering nearly 1 million homes and supporting about 400 local jobs.  FOX 11

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • ThedaCare plans to build 56 town homes next to its regional medical center in Neenah + the project will be at the old Roosevelt School site on 215 E. Forest Ave. Construction on the first two buildings will begin in October if approved while work on the final two starts in fall 2026 as the new physician residency program launches in July.  WTAQ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Impact Sports Academy in Lawrence broke ground on an expansion project that adds 15,000 square feet to its building and creates a four-field complex with turf infields—designed to host youth tournaments and year-round training. Owner Jason Berken said the building will complete by late March or early April while the fields will finish in about one year.  WTAQ
