- ➤ Barlow Planetarium in Menasha held its grand reopening Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting after a two-month closure needed for its transition to a county-owned facility — county officials said the change aims to boost local revenue and community interest. Family Astronomy Day is set for Saturday with free exhibits, telescope viewing, and six planetarium shows. WTAQ
- ➤ At UW-Oshkosh, remnants of a Russian drone from the Ukraine conflict were shown as part of the exhibit 'Drones: The Game Changers in the War in Ukraine' on Sept. 24, 2025. Ukrainian veteran and student Vladyslav Plyaka—who served as a drone operator—shared his personal experiences to highlight the human cost of the conflict. FOX 11
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Board of Regents will review a new UW policy this fall—if approved it will guarantee that core general education credits earned at one UW school transfer to meet graduation requirements for undergraduates enrolling in fall 2026. FOX 11
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At a Wednesday night meeting, the Safety and Licensing Committee recommended approval of an amended truancy ordinance—aimed at reducing high school chronic absences—and the proposal now heads to the Common Council for a final vote. WOSH-AM
- ➤ The Wisconsin DOT introduced a new billboard on I-41 on Sept 23, 2025 to boost driver safety after over 10,000 work zone crashes were recorded in five years. DOT officials urged drivers to slow down and use real-time traffic updates — to help keep construction workers safe. WTAQ
