- ➤ On September 23, 2025, the new Uncle Mike's Kringle Shoppe opened on W3178 Van Roy Road in Appleton & began serving festive kringles and coffee beverages to local customers. Co-owners Nathan and Mary Vande Walle prepared the store with treats like Sea Salt Caramel Pecan and Strawberry Cheese kringle for the upcoming holiday season. Post-Crescent
- ➤ Glass Nickel Pizza at 2120 W. College Ave. celebrated 15 years of its pizza of the month tradition on Sept. 18 — the restaurant shared photos of past selections including Boot Scooting BBQ and Fetalicious Pizza. Post-Crescent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kaukauna High School business teacher Rob Vander Heiden runs a business incubator class where students pitch ideas to the Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce — he also manages Fox Valley Mosquito & Tick Control and a Madden NFL league. Vander Heiden said he relies on his family to help with his business and believes the Packers will win the Super Bowl. Post-Crescent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Appleton will rename Veterans Park as it invites residents to suggest a name that reflects the park’s local history — naming guidelines will be finalized soon and the Parks and Recreation Committee will narrow suggestions for city council approval before the end of the year. WTAQ
- ➤ Appleton joined with Stop the Noise Appleton — a group led by three alderpersons — to cut loud vehicle noise on College Avenue as residents voiced concerns. The city will boost police patrols, enforce noise rules, and launch an online reporting tool with a forum at the Appleton library on October 22 for public feedback. NBC 26
- ➤ A Matrix Consulting Group study recommended that the Appleton Police Department add more officers—two traffic safety officers, one school resource officer, three investigators and a forensic evidence specialist—and Mayor Jake Woodford said some proposals will be considered in the 2026 budget. The report was published on September 23rd and it paves the way for future staffing changes. WHBY
- ➤ Expanding I-41 between De Pere and Appleton is part of a project to improve traffic flow, and workers and law enforcement are urging drivers to be extra careful in work zones—steps intended to save lives. WHBY
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Packers Football Outreach Camp held Tuesday at Syble Hopp School in De Pere featured 180 kids trying drills such as kicking, throwing and diving for touchdowns. Packers players including Ben Sims and Jaylin Simpson hosted the event—further stops are planned in Rubicon, Wrightstown and Appleton. WOSH-AM
