  • Uncle Mike’s Kringle Shoppe opened a new shop Monday at W3178 Van Roy Road, Suite A in Appleton, offering its famous kringles, breads, cookies, pastries and the first in-store scooped ice cream along with a coffee bar—giving locals a fresh spot to enjoy sweet treats. Customers have already lined up to try the award-winning baked goods.  WOSH-AM

  • This weekly photo gallery shows local highlights from past events including Appleton North's football win, the Community First Fox Cities Marathon, fall treats at Whisk and Arrow Sugar Studio, and a pizza celebration at Glass Nickel+ each view paints a picture of life in the Fox Cities.  Post-Crescent

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The DNR is tracking Lake Winnebago closely after round gobies were found near the Bowen Street Fishing Pier and other parts of the lake. The agency is asking local anglers to report sightings+ it is studying ways to protect native sport fish while keeping the Menasha Lock closed.  WTAQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Appleton is renaming Veterans Park and will ask residents to submit name ideas later this fall. Parks Director Dean Gazza said that new guidelines will be set before the city council votes on the final choice by year-end.  FOX 11

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Kirkland-brand ahi tuna product sold at Costco in Wisconsin was recalled due to listeria concerns after contaminated green onions were detected—affected packages marked with a Sept. 18 packing date and a Sept. 22 sell-by date should be thrown away and customers advised to contact Costco for refunds.  WOSH-AM
  • On Sept. 21, the FDA recalled over 85,000 bags of shrimp sold at Kroger stores from June 12 to Sept. 17 due to potential Cs-137 contamination—customers are urged to dispose of or return affected products for a refund.  WOSH-AM
