CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Hortonville woman, Lindsey Feucht, 43, has been charged with trying to hire a hitman to kill her mother and stepfather—her case is on hold while the public defender's office searches for an attorney. FOX 11
- ➤ Erik Paz-Zavaleta, a 46-year-old Mexican national living in Kaukauna, was indicted for fraudulently obtaining a passport—he falsely provided another person's identity in his March 2022 application—and faces up to 10 years, three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine if convicted. WTAQ
- ➤ Appleton police say Troy VanGrinsven—55 and accused of stabbing an officer on March 31—faces four charges including attempted homicide and remains suspended from trial because he is deemed incompetent—with a competency review set for Sept. 4—. WTAQ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Brett Jedwabny, a 16-year-old student at Appleton North High School, returned to class this week after recovering from a traumatic brain injury he suffered in a power washing accident in July, 2024—he attends half-day classes while working on reading, math, and physical therapy. His teacher and mother say his progress in vocabulary and motor skills shows he is ready to join adapted sports and the fishing team as he continues to improve. WBAY
- ➤ Lawrence University held a ribbon-cutting on Sept. 5 for its new West Campus building on College Ave — the project offers university offices, labs and classrooms on the second floor, the Trout Museum of Art set to open Oct. 11 on the first floor, and two floors of apartments available to local residents.
