  • A 12-year-old—riding an electric scooter on a Kaukauna sidewalk near a convenience store—was hit by a vehicle at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries as police investigate the driver's failure to see her.  WHBY

  • Air Wisconsin announced a pending sale of its operations to a Florida company as part of a plan that may reduce its workforce by 253 workers—furloughs are set to start on or after October 28.  NBC 26

CRIME NEWS

  • A trial is underway for Samantha J. Krebs, a 39-year-old Appleton woman charged with killing her boyfriend after police responded on July 18, 2024 to a call at a home on North Park Drive Lane+ she faces a life sentence if convicted.  WBAY
  • A downtown Appleton bar, Mr. Frogs, surrendered its liquor license this week—after receiving 265 demerit points for repeated violations like allowing underaged patrons and serving alcohol past 2 a.m.—city officials said.  WTAQ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A Wednesday night Powerball drawing produced a $50,000 win in Appleton when a ticket sold at Kwik Trip on 2120 E. Edgewood Drive became one of three big wins in Wisconsin—more than 6.3 million tickets won cash prizes in the draw.  FOX 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Federal officials announced that on August 22 the U.S. Attorney's Office settled a discrimination case after tenants claimed landlords Tammy Estrada and Ramiro Estrada denied reasonable accommodation for emotional support animals — the settlement awards $20,000 to the tenants and requires the landlords to adopt a new housing policy and attend fair housing training.  FOX 11
