  • Travelers at Appleton International Airport have enjoyed a new nonstop flight to Orlando since January, as Allegiant Airlines launched service that operates Friday through Monday—making it Allegiant’s seventh nonstop route to Florida and increasing the airport’s nonstop options to 22. This addition gives residents a direct way to visit Orlando’s theme park attractions.  WOSH-AM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Seymour School District introduced 21 Blue Bird Vision propane buses yesterday in partnership with Kobussen Buses to cut smog-producing emissions—reducing nitrogen oxides by 95% compared with diesel. Each 77-passenger bus features a Ford engine and advanced safety controls and will be refueled at a new propane station at a fixed rate for the upcoming school year.  FOX 11

  • Chief Petty Officer Emily Hand, a coast guard member from our local area, was named Coast Guard Person of the Year for her service and dedication—she finished her Wisconsin contract and will return to Missouri soon.  WBAY

  • The Menasha Health Department has warned residents to avoid swimming at Menasha Municipal Beach because blue-green algae can make people and pets sick with symptoms like headaches and skin irritation. Gina LaLiberte—statewide algal bloom coordinator at the Wisconsin DNR—explained the algae grows rapidly in warm water and urged residents to check the water before entering.  Post-Crescent
