- ➤ Appleton American Legion Post 38 will host an extended Brat Fry Extravaganza on August 20 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on its grounds to benefit Old Glory Honor Flight. - ➤ Richard Daseke, a 77-year-old veteran from Neenah, earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal for fighting under heavy enemy fire in Vietnam on March 21—with his bravery, he now leads the Military Order of the Purple Heart in Wisconsin and speaks at schools and conventions to honor those who served. - ➤ Two people were seriously injured in a crash on State Highway 55 in Oneida when an SUV rolled into a ditch at 3:50 p.m. Thursday — the 25-year-old driver was taken to a local hospital by ambulance and the 22-year-old passenger was airlifted while the cause remains under investigation. WHBY

- ➤ A Little Chute man, Myles Schinke, pleaded no contest to charges of endangering safety + possessing a firearm as a delinquent, and the Brown County Circuit Court sentenced him on Aug. 7 to four years in prison + six years of extended supervision for a 2023 drive-by shooting in Green Bay that injured no one. - ➤ Grand Chute’s Police and Fire Commission has appointed David Maas as the new police chief—he served as Captain of Patrol for six years and will replace retiring chief Greg Peterson on Sept. 15. WHBY
- ➤ Federal funds will be used to improve a dangerous Kaukauna intersection by creating a restricted crossing U-turn at the crossing of Fieldcrest Dr and Highway CE near Quinney Elementary. Kaukauna’s Department of Public Works approved the plan on Monday — city alders supported the change to boost safety even though they opposed using the county rule. WBAY
