ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcyclist died in a single-vehicle crash on I-41 near Holland Road (the crash occurred around 10:24 p.m. Saturday) and the Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the incident.  WBAY

CRIME NEWS

  • Kendall Strobel-Nieft was convicted of burglary and criminal damage to property for flooding more than 20 under-construction homes in Kaukauna, causing over $230,000 in damage — her sentencing is set for Sept. 25.  WTAQ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Yesterday, families enjoyed the 12th annual Mile of Music festival in downtown Appleton as they watched the First Steps In Music event at Lawrence Harper Hall and live performances at the Hilton Appleton Paper Valley hotel.   • Barlow Planetarium reopened Friday under new Winnebago County ownership—its equipment still runs on Windows 95 and stores data on floppy discs—and staff plan a capital campaign to raise $2 million for needed upgrades.  NBC 26

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On August 1, the Wisconsin Elections Commission deactivated 192,369 voter registrations that had not been used in four years and did not return mailed notices—voters with deactivated records must re-register to vote. This figure is higher than those recorded in 2023, 2021, and 2019.  Post-Crescent

HEALTH NEWS

  • Officials from Oconto Public Health and the state health department confirmed nine measles cases in Oconto County on Saturday from out-of-state travel exposure — one case was confirmed by lab testing and eight by symptoms. Health officials are now working to notify anyone exposed while saying that public risk remains low.  WOSH-AM
