More than 100 JCPenney stores including the Fox River Mall in Appleton will soon have a new owner—Boston-based Onyx Partners is set to buy 119 properties in a $947 million all-cash deal that will close before September 8—and all stores will remain open during the change in landlord.

Reports say JCPenney will sell its Fox River Mall store in Grand Chute as part of a $947 million deal involving 119 department stores.

Onyx Partners will take over the Grand Chute store by Sept. 8 — nine other Wisconsin locations will remain with JCPenney.

The local choir On A Positive Note made its debut at Appleton’s Mile of Music — featuring members with dementia and their care partners — as part of a Fox Valley Memory Project effort to help people live full, meaningful lives.

Despite air quality warnings, thousands attended the Mile of Music festival on Thursday along College Avenue in downtown Appleton—visiting both indoor and outdoor stages while local organizers said the event may bring over $8 million to the city.

The Barlow Planetarium at 1478 Midway Road is reopening today after a two-month break caused by a ticketing issue — visitors must bring cash for admission since there is no ATM onsite.
