Good morning, Appleton.

Community members and their dogs attended the groundbreaking for a new dog park near Brewster Village — chosen for its highway access and pet services.

The park will have an off-leash area, agility course and trail extension and is set to open around Memorial Day Weekend — designed to benefit local pet lovers.

Chick-fil-A Appleton will offer free original chicken sandwiches for lunch as part of its Summer of Drive-Thru series.

Guests can get the free sandwich at the drive-thru (3775 West College Avenue) from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, with limits of one per person and two per vehicle.

A Keshena woman, Leona Dixon (41), has been charged with fraud and money laundering, making her the ninth suspect in a scheme that defrauded local credit unions.

The investigation from Oct. 17 to Nov. 19 showed Fox Communities Credit Union lost nearly $200,000 (with Community First Credit Union losing over $23,000) after scammers gained access to members' accounts.

The protest held in Houdini Plaza on July 17 at 6 p.m. was part of the national 'Good Trouble Lives On' movement, with organizers saying it challenged attacks on civil rights and voting rights—300 RSVPs from across Northeast Wisconsin highlight growing local concern over proposed cuts to public programs.

A bridge over I-41 on Vandenbroek Road in Fox Valley will reopen next week after its rebuild for a wider route for bicyclists and pedestrians — its reopening on July 25 is weather dependent and part of the I-41 expansion between De Pere and Appleton.
