- ➤ Fox Valley’s Playground Program offers drop-in summer activities for kids ages 6 to 13 at 11 Appleton playground sites—running Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is open all summer with fees of $25 for residents and $50 for non-residents, and the program ends August 15th. - ➤ Construction is moving along on the new home for the Trout Museum of Art on College Avenue in downtown Appleton. When finished, the four-story building will hold art on the first floor, academic programs on the second, and modular housing on the third while Lawrence University owns the fourth floor. - ➤ Today state and local officials toured the new Maplewood School in Menasha, now the nation’s largest zero-net energy middle school built at a cost of $99.7 million over 223,000 square feet. - ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources warns residents to watch for the Asian long-horned beetle, which has not been seen in our state but has already caused harm to maple trees and other deciduous plants in nearby areas like Ohio.
