Good morning, Appleton.

Appleton police shared a video of at least four e-bike riders cutting through oncoming traffic at a roundabout (E.

College Ave. and S. Walter Ave.) last weekend, warning that the dangerous and illegal behavior puts riders and others at risk.

Gas prices in Appleton dropped to $2.86 from $3.29 last holiday weekend—mirroring lower rates in nearby cities—and officials advise drivers to fuel early for the busy Fourth of July travel.

Gov. Tony Evers (undecided on a third term) signed a new two-year state budget early Thursday to secure federal Medicaid funds and cut income taxes by $1.4 billion, while raising the hospital assessment rate to 6% to protect rural hospital aid.

The bipartisan bill (approved in rapid votes in both houses) aims to keep Wisconsin eligible for vital federal funding.

Gov. Tony Evers signed a $111 billion two-year state budget on July 3 that includes a $1.5 billion tax cut package aimed at helping lower- and middle-income earners.

The plan will lower income taxes for about 1.6 million Wisconsinites, shield retirement income from taxes and remove the sales tax on household energy bills—measures that are set to benefit many families.
