- ➤ The Mary Beth Nienhaus Activity Center in Appleton held its grand opening on June 20 with free activities for seniors such as blood pressure checks, chair yoga, and line dancing—giving guests a look at its new space at 3000 E. College Avenue. The center, renamed to honor donor Mary Beth Nienhaus, now offers more than 300 activities including a gym, indoor pickleball courts, and rooms for art, cooking and health talks. - ➤ On Friday, Local 5 volunteers helped the community during Nexstar’s 29th Annual Founders Day of Caring by petting pups at Happily Ever Animal Sanctuary, working in gardens at DC Farm for Vets, and packing over 200 pounds of food at Rooted In — they also joined Women’s Build 2025 to help build new homes—to support neighbors and veterans. - ➤ On June 18, the Wisconsin Assembly unanimously passed a bill named Bradyn's Law that makes sextortion a standalone crime and increases penalties by charging perpetrators with a Class B felony if a victim commits suicide plus giving victims' families access to a compensation fund. The measure now moves to the state Senate before it reaches Gov. Evers. Post-Crescent

- ➤ After a jury sided with Ascension in a nearly three-week trial over the 2021 death of 19-year-old Grace Schara, her family held a news conference in Appleton on June 20 to express disappointment and claim that she was given a lethal mix of drugs and wrongly labeled as do-not-resuscitate when she was admitted for COVID-19 symptoms. The family said they will continue sharing her story and fight for health care reform — relying on their faith amid their loss. Post-Crescent
