- ➤ Appleton History Museum unveiled the new Claudine and Jim Happel Fireside Library that displays books by local authors, high school yearbooks + city documents to preserve local history. The museum will hold a grand opening today from 5-8 p.m. as it continues to add more records to the collection. FOX 11
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Manitowoc County man with a revoked license, 39-year-old Michael Chanthavong from Reedsville, was arrested in Appleton on June 13 at 9:10 a.m. for his 5th OWI offense+ he now faces charges for THC possession after troopers observed signs of impairment. WOSH-AM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Barlow Planetarium will reopen soon after the Winnebago County Board voted to fund the UW Oshkosh Fox Cities Campus for the rest of the fiscal year. The campus will close at the end of June as Winnebago County becomes the sole owner + County Executive Gordon Hintz begins lease talks. WBAY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Barlow Planetarium at the closed UWO Fox Cities campus in Menasha is one step closer to reopening after the county approved funding for the rest of the fiscal year on Tuesday, and ownership will transfer on June 30. A community meeting is set for June 25 to gather input on repurposing campus facilities — including the Weis Earth Science Museum, a theatre, and other buildings — with a new reopening date to be posted soon. - ➤ Appleton City Clerk Kami Lynch, who served since 2015, left her role to join the UW Extension System—Mayor Jake Woodford confirmed the change. The city is now searching for a new City Clerk to manage City Hall records and operations. WHBY
