COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The city of Appleton will hold its expanded Fourth of July celebration on July 3 at Appleton Memorial Park at 4 p.m.—now managed by Wisconsin Entertainment Group after the Appleton Jaycees stepped down. The event will feature fireworks presented by Festival Foods — music by Yo-DJ, an inflatable play area for kids, food trucks from Fox Valley Food Trucks, and beverages from Stone Arch Brewpub.  WTAQ

CRIME NEWS

  • A man was sentenced to 15 years behind bars — followed by 10 years of extended supervision — in Kaukauna for a deadly motorcycle hit-and-run that killed a 20-year-old woman in August last year and was ordered to pay $27,502.23 in restitution after entering no contest pleas.  WBAY
  • Zachary Burr was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison for a drunk driving crash in Kaukauna that killed motorcycle passenger Arianna Stevens—he also received 10 years of extended supervision, a $1,000 fine, and a five-year license suspension with an ignition interlock requirement.  WTAQ
  • Julius Elmer pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of first-degree reckless homicide in connection with a fatal overdose at an Appleton home on Aug. 24, 2022 + his trial will be held on Sept. 15.  FOX 11
  • The Grand Chute Police Department launched a Drone as a First Responder program to send drones from a docking station outside the station to assess scenes quickly — a licensed pilot tracks the drone to give officers a live view before they arrive.  WTAQ

  • Gov Tony Evers proclaimed June 16 as Kwik Trip Day in Wisconsin after the first store opened in Eau Claire in 1965—marking 60 years of operation and community support. His proclamation praised Kwik Trip for being a leading employer and partner in local communities.  We Are Green Bay
