- ➤ Barks & Recreation dog park opened in Grand Chute on May 27 near Fox Valley Technical College. The 15-acre, $1.4 million park features large and small dog areas, agility equipment, over 70 parking stalls, and planned memorials, and it is free to enter daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. WTAQ

- ➤ The June 5 Listen to the Loop music festival will feature live music, food, and drinks at three parks along the Loop the Lake recreational trail in Neenah, Menasha, and Fox Crossing. Post-Crescent

- ➤ The Building for Kids Children's Museum expanded by 1,000 sqft with a new Power Up exhibit on energy and sustainability. A ribbon cutting ceremony is held today (Friday, May 29) with members previewing before the exhibit opens to the public tomorrow, Saturday, May 30. FOX 11
- ➤ Lawrence University announced that 23-year-old graduate Alexander Stanger died while hiking in the Italian Alps earlier in May. The Vermont native — who had worked in Hamburg and completed a practicum at Appleton Bilingual School — taught as an English assistant on a Fulbright fellowship. Post-Crescent

- ➤ WPS at the Weston Power Plant will band four peregrine falcon chicks on Monday using tiny transmitters to track their flight after leaving the nest, marking a new step in local falcon research + conservation. FOX 11
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Scot Meisenheimer, who helped clean the Fox River of toxic PCBs in 2013, now battles recurring cancer after being exposed to hazardous chemicals from lax safety practices at Tetra Tech. An investigation found that these lower standards put workers at increased risk. Post-Crescent
- ➤ Tri-County Dental’s rebuilt mobile clinic is back on the road, bringing free (dental care) to students at northeast Wisconsin schools after nearly two years offline from an accident. - ➤ Eighty pinball wizards from 20 countries will compete in the 21st annual IFPA World Pinball Championship in De Pere from June 5 to 7 at District 82 Pinball Arcade. A Team USA & Team Europe battle for the Epstein Cup will take place Thursday from 8 to 10 p.m. WBAY
- ➤ At Chico’s Landing on May 28, local anglers enjoyed the white bass spawning run along Wolf River, with veteran guide Alex Simion noting that catches may continue for another week or two (a sign of the vibrant fishing season) for visitors planning their next fishing trip. FOX 11
