- ➤ Officials announced that Outagamie County’s new 10-acre dog park, Barks & Recreation, will open from 10 a.m. to noon on May 27 at 3302 W. Brewster St. in Grand Chute, following an online contest that drew 374 entries. Post-Crescent
- ➤ LEAVEN is helping Fox Valley residents cover rising rent and utility costs as more people seek emergency financial aid due to higher gas prices. The organization, which serves Calumet, Outagamie and Northeastern Winnebago counties, provided over $1,000,000 to 3,000 households last year and plans to serve even more this summer. FOX 11

- ➤ Fox Valley Literacy is adding a new classroom at Archive Apartments at 615 E. Wisconsin Ave to meet high demand for digital skills. The 700 sqft space will open this summer, allowing larger classes to serve a waitlist of up to 40 students. Post-Crescent
- ➤ Fox Cities-area schools end classes between May 29 and June 5, and graduation ceremonies are scheduled this week with Hortonville holding one today at 7 p.m. plus Appleton East hosting theirs on May 27, with ticket requirements varying by district. Post-Crescent
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The EPA announced over $15 million in funding for Wisconsin communities to test for and treat PFAS in drinking water, a grant that supports planning and infrastructure upgrades + improves water safety. The project is part of a $1 billion program to help local water systems. WBAY
- ➤ Three peregrine falcon chicks hatched at a Menasha paper mill two weeks ago and were banded with ID tags on Tuesday, May 19 (by the Wisconsin Peregrine Falcon Recovery Project) as part of an 11-year nesting tradition; they will soon be released into the wild. FOX 11
