COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Appleton honored Mason Knott and Toni Schoen with the Civilian Medal of Gallantry last week for their lifesaving actions in 2025. Officials said they supported a person in crisis on a downtown parking ramp (staying nearly an hour and a half and calling police) to prevent a tragedy. WOSH-AM
- ➤ Appleton is getting a new Family Resource Center after First 5 Fox Valley began renovating the former Trout Museum building (111 W. College Ave next to Houdini Plaza). The center will offer play spaces, childcare, and multipurpose rooms, with work finishing by fall. FOX 11
- ➤ BEAMING Inc. will host the Boots & Bags Luncheon on Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2692 County Road GG in Neenah to raise funds for equine-assisted services that help children, seniors, and veterans (the event includes raffles and a horse parade). WOSH-AM

- ➤ Fox Valley Artisan Market, owned by Cassidy Pesek, welcomes Appleton residents to explore unique handmade goods at 506 W. College Ave. The market showcases local creative talents and community spirit today. Post-Crescent

- ➤ Food truck owners in Fox Valley are raising prices today to cover rising fuel, food and propane costs, with Kyle Fritz (association president) saying some may need to seek extra work as costs persist. Customers are urged to support their local trucks. WOSH-AM

- ➤ Menasha Joint School District started its search for a new superintendent after Matt Zimmerman resigned to join Appleton Area School District; the superintendent search (led by a CESA 6 team) will screen applicants with recommendations on May 28 and final hiring in mid-June for a July 1 start. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Multiple road construction projects in Outagamie County are ongoing, affecting traffic through fall. Work includes rehabilitation of parts of WIS 96, reconstruction of Buchanan Street overpass, and I-41 expansion with lane closures and detours planned in various areas. WBAY
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ The 179-year-old former Courtney Woolen Mill on East Water Street in Appleton is back for sale. Lawrence University, which bought it in August 2024 for $485,000, now lists it at about $500,000 (photos show no interior updates). WHBY
