- ➤ WisDOT officials and state patrol warn drivers that deer collisions will rise during May and June—stemming from deer seeking birthing sites after over 17,000 incidents in 2024 that resulted in nine deaths and 708 injuries—and advise motorists to drive at safe speeds, eliminate distractions, and buckle up to stay safe on the road. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Campbell Scott (1983) and Robert McDonald (1973), both well-known Lawrence University alumni, will speak at Commencement weekend this spring. Scott will be the featured speaker at the main ceremony on June 15 on Main Hall Green while McDonald will address graduates and families at the Baccalaureate service on June 14 in Memorial Chapel. - ➤ Outagamie County will reallocate over $3.2 million originally set aside for UW-Fox Cities to upgrade its old administrative systems. The board will decide on the plan at its next Finance Committee meeting after selling its share of the campus to Winnebago County to free up funds for county programs. WTAQ
- ➤ Delaire’s LLC filed a lawsuit against the city after its common council denied liquor licenses for a tavern and coffee shop on W. College Ave based on allegations—without conclusive proof—that the owners planned to install gambling machines. The suit seeks a judicial review of the February decision and is pending in Outagamie County court — the outcome could affect similar cases. WBAY
