GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents have pushed back on the city's plan to narrow Driscoll Street and add sidewalks as they worry the change may disrupt traffic flow and parking. City officials say they will review community feedback before finalizing the plan (more details to come). NBC 26
- ➤ WisDOT warns drivers to be alert for deer on roads as young deer separate from their mothers this spring, with data showing an average of 50 deer-related crashes daily in May; drivers should slow down and avoid distractions at dawn and dusk. WOSH-AM
- ➤ Officials with WisDOT reported that a section of northbound I-41 (between WIS 96 and WIS 47) in Outagamie County was closed for emergency pavement repairs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 6, and Local 5 said an update will follow. WOSH-AM
- ➤ FEMA began assessing flood damage in Shiocton on May 6 after historic flooding left water up to 3 feet in some homes — county and federal officials urged residents to keep receipts and photos of repairs to help with future aid. WTAQ
- ➤ The Coast Guard is using Voyager drones to monitor Great Lakes waters, with two in Lake Erie, two in Lake Superior this week, and more planned for Lakes Huron & Ontario as Saildrone partners with northeast Wisconsin-based Fincantieri Marine Group to build drones for the Navy. WBAY
