  • Green Bay and Appleton were named among the top 100 best places to live in the United States in 2025 by Livability.com—Appleton scored 704 for its cultural events and affordable living while Green Bay earned 648 for its strong community bonds and lower housing costs. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Three people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash in Town of Center after a 72-year-old woman ran a stop sign at the intersection of County Highway EE and Wage Road—she and a 75-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries while a child riding in the pickup had minor injuries.  WHBY

CRIME NEWS

  • Appleton Police used a K—9 to subdue a suspect who barricaded himself in a residence on the 700 block of N. Hawthorne Drive last Friday night; the suspect was treated for minor arm injuries and signs of a drug overdose and now faces charges of Domestic Disorderly Conduct and Bail Jumping.  WBAY
  • Appleton K9 officer Drakon helped police Friday evening when a barricaded suspect in a home on N. Hawthrone Drive refused to surrender and was found hiding in the basement; officers arrested him on charges of domestic violence and bail jumping, treated him for drug overdose signs and minor injuries, and took him to jail.  FOX 11
  • Martin Schiedermayer from Appleton was sentenced to five years in prison for robbing a Wells Fargo Bank on S. State Street in January by taking $2,000—he was also handed seven years of extended supervision for passing a threatening note to a teller and for a similar 2011 robbery.  WHBY
  • Appleton police responded Friday evening to a domestic disturbance on the 700 block of N. Hawthrone Drive after a male suspect refused to exit his home and barricaded its doors, and after deploying a K9 officer, they apprehended him for domestic violence and bail jumping charges while he was treated for drug overdose symptoms and minor injuries before being taken to jail — the fire department later ventilated the home after the suspect turned on the oven and burners.  WTAQ
