EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Appleton schools plan a new uniform attendance policy this fall that marks K-5 students absent if they arrive after 8:45 a.m. and labels older students tardy if they exceed a ten-minute limit (aiming to eliminate rule confusion). The Board will vote on April 27. Post-Crescent
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Flooding prevents DNR crews from safely monitoring sturgeon spawning along the Wolf River, with Bamboo Bend (Shiocton) and the Sturgeon Trail (New London) closed to public viewing. The department advises residents to follow local updates as water levels remain high. FOX 11
- ➤ Yesterday, the state Natural Resources Board endorsed new rules to remove invasive round gobies from Lake Winnebago. The rules require anglers to bring all caught gobies to a DNR station (for disposal) and will be discussed at an upcoming public hearing. FOX 11
- ➤ Shiocton residents evacuated as rising Wolf River waters forced an order to leave by 3 p.m., with a Red Cross shelter opened at Black Creek Community Center (507 S. Maple St.) and officials warning that flooding near River and Mills streets may worsen over the next few days. WTAQ
