- ➤ Air Wisconsin announced it will cut 102 salaried and management positions in Appleton, effective in June, as part of a layoff plan that already affected 500 workers at Appleton International and Milwaukee’s General Mitchell airports after its American Airlines partnership ended. The airline said unionized employees face temporary cuts—while management roles become permanent—as it shifts focus to essential air services like charter flights for collegiate sports and federally subsidized routes for underserved rural communities. - ➤ Appleton police, joined by Grand Chute officers and Outagamie County deputies, foiled a burglary early Friday at a large warehouse on the 600 block of E. Hancock St. by using K9s and drones to locate suspect Scott Gandt, 62 — who was booked on charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of methamphetamine and a probation violation. - ➤ High schools in the Fox Cities are holding prom nights on different dates, with events today at Hortonville and Little Chute High Schools along with other schools hosting nights on May 10, April 26, and May 3. - ➤ Construction has begun on a new Veterans memorial in Shattuck Park in Neenah as local veteran Bob Borszich and his group used $175,000 raised with the help of the city to update the existing plaque and flag display. The work will finish by the end of spring and a re-dedication ceremony is set for June 15 — officials say the new design will feature nine flags representing six service branches and three extra flags.
