- ➤ Mini Golf on the Town returns to downtown Appleton from 1 to 5 p.m. on April 11, where guests can register at participating locations to choose between two courses that feature local businesses, food specials, and a costume contest for those 21 and older. Post-Crescent
- ➤ Appleton is named among the best places to live in 2026 due to its affordability, family-friendliness, strong economy, and outdoor options; the ranking analyzed over 2,000 cities and names Madison as the only other Wisconsin city on the list. WTAQ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Appleton voters approved a $60 million school referendum during the recent election to maintain staffing and add counselors & social workers amid a $13 million deficit. The measure raises taxes by about $15 per $100,000 and funds local schools for four years. WTAQ
- ➤ Menasha Joint School District officials celebrated a funding referendum that allowed the district to exceed its state revenue cap by $6M each year for the next six years. Superintendent Matt Zimmerman said the measure, which passed by 252 votes, will help maintain current programming. WHBY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced its inland fishing season now features new regulations as the trout season, running from Apr. 4 through Oct. 15, and the muskellunge season, starting May 2, require anglers to check current bag limits and have a valid license (individual: $20, household: $31). - ➤ The Appleton Plan Commission approved a proposal to shift the downtown shelter to 314 North Appleton Street to serve up to 50 adults nightly. The move awaits Common Council approval on April 15 — if approved, nonprofit Providence Promise will finish required upgrades for a Dec. 1 opening. WBAY
- ➤ Outagamie County will resume outdoor siren tests Saturday at noon and again during statewide tornado drills on April 16 at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Officials remind those outdoors to take shelter upon hearing the alarms. FOX 11
