  • The Wisconsin Red Cross sent 29 volunteers and two emergency vehicles to support communities affected by severe floods and tornadoes across the South and Midwest—volunteers in our state worked with partners to provide shelter, meals, and emergency supplies as part of a growing relief effort.  We Are Green Bay
  • Wild turkeys have been seen in increasing numbers in Appleton and are causing traffic delays—sometimes even attacking vehicles, police said. The department urges residents to stop feeding the birds to reduce the problem.  WTAQ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A state appeals court ruled Tuesday that National Casualty—insurer for Gravity Park USA—is not liable for claims filed by the parents of Finley Baier, a 5-year-old killed on July 19th, 2020, when he was struck by an ATV during an unscheduled ride at the park; the ruling reverses an earlier decision by a circuit court.  WTAQ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • UPS will lay off 42 workers at its Holmen facility which will close permanently on June 10th—24 part-time handlers and 18 full-time staff are affected. The layoffs include union and non-union workers and are part of a plan to cut $1 billion in costs while offering alternative roles where possible.  We Are Green Bay

  • Appleton businessman Douglas Larson, 72, owner of Mods International, was sentenced Friday to two years in federal prison for failing to pay over $1 million in employment taxes—he diverted funds for personal luxuries and had a long record of fraud convictions.  WTAQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service announced on Tuesday that Johnsonville recalled 22,672 pounds of its cheddar bratwurst produced on Feb 5 that may contain hard plastics, with some sold in Wisconsin and nine other states. Consumers are urged to discard or return the product to the purchase location.  We Are Green Bay
