ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday in downtown Appleton, an officer stopped a group of motorized bike riders on E. College Avenue at Appleton Street for reckless riding, and 15 minutes later one rider fled and was struck by a vehicle—first responders took him to a local hospital while police closed College Avenue between Appleton and Oneida streets and began an investigation. - ➤ One person was seriously injured after fleeing police near East College Ave when a passing vehicle struck them during a stop of a group riding motorized bicycles recklessly on Saturday night — they were taken to a local hospital for treatment. WTAQ
- ➤ An Appleton businessman, Douglas Larson (72), was sentenced Friday to two years in federal prison for not paying over $1 million in employment taxes; officials said his past fraud convictions (dating back to the 1970s) and failing health led to the lighter sentence. FOX 11

- ➤ Appleton police asked residents on Saturday not to feed wild turkeys that have been causing problems in neighborhoods. - ➤ Valley Transit is still waiting to see if it will get a $25—million grant from the federal Department of Transportation as plans for a new transit center in downtown Appleton remain under review.
