COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local businesses have supported unpaid TSA workers at Appleton and Green Bay airports by donating cakes and treats during the partial shutdown. A sweet challenge (Mar. 25) by Republic Chophouse inspired Uncle Mike's Bake Shoppe and Delights Bakery to contribute gift cards and funds, with more donations planned later this week.  FOX 11
  • Since Monday, a community fundraiser in Appleton has raised over $3,100 to aid TSA workers at the local airport, with a goal of $7,500 by Friday. The money will cover groceries, gas cards, and other essentials for the 75 employees (organizer Emily Tseffos highlighted the community's strong support).  WBAY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Prehistoric Wisconsin, a new exhibit featuring ancient items from the Weis Earth Science Collection, opens today at the History Museum at the Castle with tickets included in admission.  WBAY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Yesterday, school leaders answered community questions in the final listening session on the $15 million operational referendum at the Appleton Area School District welcome center (2701 N. Oneida St., Suite C3). They warned that if the measure fails, cuts will impact school services amid a $13 million deficit.  WBAY
  • At Kaukauna High School, students have taken part in weekly mental health flex sessions where they make protein balls + sugar scrubs and share coping tips. The Center for Suicide Awareness and teacher Matt Dale extended the program at the students' request until the end of the school year.  Post-Crescent
  • Lawrence University students are working to secure approval for a Turning Point USA chapter on campus, as they navigate the necessary review process with university officials. The group hopes to begin organizing events once the application is approved.  NBC 26

  • On Wednesday, 75 local elected officials gathered at UW-Green Bay for an educational forum on data centers, where they discussed job opportunities, rising utility rates, and environmental concerns (New North Inc. led the session) to guide future legislation.  FOX 11

  • Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love donated cleats to local youth teams on Wednesday through his 10ve for Cleats campaign, surprising Appleton West High School softball, Water Cities Soccer Club, and Gillett High School teams to boost confidence for the sports season.  WBAY
