COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Appleton's Long Cheng Marketplace may expand its food and culture hub after the Common Council unanimously approved a grant request for up to $250,000 on Wednesday. The marketplace will learn in coming months if the funds secure its expanded shops, tea outlets, and grocery.  NBC 26
  • Appleton's Long Cheng Marketplace is seeking a $250,000 grant to expand its hub for food, culture and community, a project designed to boost local events and programs.  NBC 26
  • Greater Fox Cities Habitat for Humanity received $110,613 from USDA Rural Development on March 19 to help 14 low-income homeowners in Calumet, Outagamie and Waupaca counties complete essential health and safety repairs on their homes (including updates to roofing, siding, and accessibility features).  FOX 11

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Charter Communications will close its Appleton call center at 3520 Destination Drive on May 21, affecting 313 workers including nearly 250 technicians. The company announced the decision to the state Department of Workforce Development on March 18.  Post-Crescent

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fox Cities Performing Arts Center announced that 500,000 students have participated in its Amcor Education Series since 2002. The center said the milestone connects classroom learning with stage performances (a key community program).  FOX 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Evers signed Gail's Law — a measure inspired by Neenah native Gail Zeamer who died in 2024 — at the State Capitol on Thursday. The law requires insurers to fully cover supplemental breast cancer screenings, benefiting nearly 40% of women with dense tissue.  FOX 11

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Thursday, Timber Rattlers unveiled a revamped game-day menu at Grand Chute, featuring creative mocktails, sliders, and desserts (including a Sunday-only Blue Crew Cooler and locally sourced cheese curds). The new offerings will be available at select concessions throughout the season.  FOX 11
  • Packers coach Matt LaFleur finalized his 2026 staff moves on Thursday; new hires include Bobby Babich as secondary coach (who spent nine seasons with Buffalo), Daniel Bullocks as cornerbacks coach, Noah Pauley for receivers, Sam Siefkes for linebackers, and Luke Getsy returning as quarterbacks coach.  WBAY
