  • A GoFundMe has been set up for FML Discount Grocery in New London after a three-day blizzard collapsed its cold storage on March 18, leaving 2½ truckloads of products trapped inside. Donations will go toward rebuilding the unit + replacing inventory with a $4,000 goal.  Post-Crescent

  • Seroogy’s Chocolates announced its new Dubai Meltaway Bar (made with pistachio cream and crisp toasted kataifi in its signature milk chocolate) on Wednesday. The limited run of 10,000 bars is now available at its De Pere and Ashwaubenon locations.  WOSH-AM

  • Appleton celebrates world-famous magician Harry Houdini who spent part of his childhood in our city with exhibits at the Outagamie Museum and a dedicated plaza downtown—honoring his legacy. Born Erik Weisz, Houdini visited Appleton twice, reinforcing his enduring ties to our local history.  Post-Crescent
  • Creative Downtown Appleton, Inc. received approval to install an official Wisconsin Historical Marker honoring local legend Harry Houdini near the bronze bust at Houdini Plaza. The plaque will be installed by Halloween (marking the 100th anniversary of his death).  WTAQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Evers signed a law on March 18 to extend Medicaid coverage from 60 days to one year for low-income mothers. The policy aims to improve care by giving thousands more time for postpartum services.  Post-Crescent
  • Appleton officials warn residents about scam emails that claim permit fee payments and urge verifying email addresses (eg @appletonwi.gov) by contacting city offices directly. The warning aims to protect personal information and ensure only official communications are followed.  FOX 11
  • Appleton announced its Age Friendly Appleton Plan for 2026, which focuses on social participation, housing & communication, and transportation to help seniors live independently. City health officials say the plan addresses key needs of older residents.  WHBY
