ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Appleton Police are investigating a workplace accident that occurred just before 5:30 PM Wednesday in a building on the 2400 block of East Glendale Avenue—employees chose not to comment out of respect for the victim's family.  WHBY
  • Menasha police say a 67-year-old man died after officers were called near Emily and Ninth streets just before 10 p.m. when they found him in the water about 15—20 feet offshore from the Ninth Street boat landing and lifesaving measures failed.  WBAY

CRIME NEWS

  • Early Thursday, police chased a 25-year-old Appleton woman on I-41 for suspected impaired driving as her car reached 120 mph and lost three tires from officers’ tire deflation devices—she is now held in jail.  Post-Crescent

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ten teachers were honored on Thursday night in Appleton for their excellence after being chosen from 245 nominees by a volunteer panel for the 2025 Excellence in Education Shining Star Awards from the Fox Cities Chamber—an event hosted by Local 5’s Lisa Malak and Millaine Wells at the Butte des Morts Country Club.  WOSH-AM

  • A claim that Judge Susan Crawford would eliminate school choice if elected is false, since her record shows support for public schools and her spokesperson confirmed she never took a stance on ending voucher programs—Schimel’s campaign offered no proof of this claim.  Post-Crescent
  • The federal government is suing Air Wisconsin—an Appleton-based airline—for not reporting a hard landing incident that forced an emergency landing in Milwaukee earlier this month, with the FAA claiming pilot error caused the damage.  WHBY
