  • Appleton Downtown, Inc. will donate to the Center for Suicide Awareness after its Avenue of Ice sculpture was damaged over the weekend when a suspect allegedly threw it to the ground (restoration efforts by Krystal Kleer failed) as police continue investigating potential charges.  FOX 11

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Appleton police mourn retired lieutenant Ronnie McIntire, 86, who died after a house fire injured him on Feb. 18 at his Meade Street home; he served the department for 36 years and later worked as a school crossing guard.  WHBY

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Appleton International Airport (ATW) will add 13 daily flights to Chicago O'Hare by this summer to meet growing business travel demand. The expansion aims to boost seat capacity by 24% for the second half of 2026.  FOX 11
  • Two new local shops have opened recently as Bundt House bakery began serving freshly baked bundt cakes and treats on W College Avenue at the end of January, while Flora Shelves, an independent bookstore and floral studio hosting creative gatherings, opened on Feb. 7 at W Water Street (reported live by FOX 11's Savannah Wood).  FOX 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lawrence University's student government will decide whether to allow a Turning Point USA chapter after nearly 35 students' effort to start it received mixed campus support. Officials said low voter turnout and concerns over the group's fit with university values have shifted the decision to the community council.  FOX 11
  • Students at Lawrence University voted online Monday on whether to recognize a proposed Turning Point USA chapter amid campus backlash and petitions; the student government will decide based on established non-discrimination policies (around 35 students support the group).  WTAQ
  • Kaukauna High School is cutting its gymnastics program after more than 50 years due to declining participation and limited facilities. The team, with six members and led by assistant coach Kari Kleinschmidt, will compete in sectionals Saturday and advance to state next weekend if they qualify.  WTAQ

  • The Final Five contenders in the Timber Rattlers Food Fight were revealed yesterday at Fox Club at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, featuring entries from Pizza Brat, Southwest Grand Slam, Hot Honey Brat, Gnaf’s Nacho Poutine & Reuben Bratwurst.
