- ➤ The City of Appleton is launching an Adopt-a-Pond program to have residents clear trash from storm drains and ponds to stop flooding and pollution — applications open at the end of March and volunteers will help out twice a year. WBAY
- ➤ Appleton Flag Day Parade will use a shorter route along College Avenue from State Street to Drew Street with units staging on State Street south of College to ease security like the Christmas Parade route. The parade is scheduled for Saturday, June 13. WHBY
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ The Pad in Appleton is moving to a new 20,000 sqft space for more games and community events. The current store will close on Feb. 23 and reopen on March 7 + customers will enjoy a less cramped shopping area. WBAY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Menasha officials unveiled design concepts for a $15 million pool project at Jefferson Park — replacing an outdated facility. The Parks and Recreation Board and Common Council will vote on the project on March 10 and April 6, with construction ending mid-May and the pool opening early June 2028. WTAQ
- ➤ French Road near I-41 will close between Highway DDD and Apple Creek Road beginning Feb. 23 as the DOT expands I-41 from four to six lanes between De Pere & Grand Chute; the closure will last through late fall. FOX 11
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin Assembly passed Gail's Law on Feb. 19 (named for the late Gail Zeamer) which requires insurers to cover extra breast cancer screenings for women with dense breasts; Gov. Tony Evers is expected to sign it soon. Post-Crescent
