CULTURE NEWS

  • The Netflix documentary Matter of Time (featuring Darboy family and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder) shows how the EB Research Partnership has fast-tracked research and treatment for Epidermolysis Bullosa in the local community; the film highlights Charlie Knuth’s early struggles and lasting hope for a cure.  WTAQ
  • On Feb. 12, Apollon at 207 N. Appleton St. was featured in a Best Bites photo tour that captured revived recipes and classic Mediterranean dishes, showcasing images of owner Modesto Santander and his team in action.  Post-Crescent

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Appleton is set to expand green initiatives under Mayor Jake Woodford's guidance. City officials say new sustainability measures will be introduced soon & focus on reducing waste and boosting renewable energy in the community.  WHBY
  • Monday at 1 p.m., the DNR ended the Upriver Lakes sturgeon spearing season (on Lake Poygan, Winneconne, and Butte des Morts) when harvest caps were met. A total of 279 sturgeon were caught, with about 500 lottery winners participating over the three-day period.  WTAQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gail's Law (25AB263) would remove out-of-pocket costs for extra breast cancer tests for women with dense tissue—a measure inspired by a Neenah woman's legacy. The nearly unanimous Senate approval may lead to an Assembly vote (possibly Thursday) before the session ends this week.  FOX 11
  • Faith Technologies backed away from acquiring the former UW-Oshkosh Fox Cities campus after a 90-day due diligence and will explore innovation & technical training opportunities with future partners. Winnebago County took control of the site in July, noting the decision clarified challenges for redevelopment.  FOX 11
