  • The Autism Society of Wisconsin now offers Safety on the Spectrum training to Northeast law enforcement officers. The program was developed by police, first responders, autistic individuals, and parents to boost safe and respectful interactions during encounters.  FOX 11

  • Local high school students got a backstage look on Thursday from Hamilton’s pit orchestra before the performance at Fox Cities Performing Arts Center—helping them see how musical theater comes alive; the tour runs through Feb. 15 with several showtimes.  FOX 11

  • Lawrence University professors Michael Clayville and Erin Lesser won a Grammy for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance with their 22-person ensemble Alarm Will Sound on Feb. 5. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources approved funding for 32 improvement projects at parks and DNR sites in Northeast Wisconsin, totalling over $3 million (including $499,000 in stewardship grants with $572,061 in matching funds).  WTAQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • A nonprofit health insurer is investing $400,000 to boost care in Fox Valley by partnering with local organizations to improve equity, language access & food security. Leaders plan to create a framework addressing local health barriers.  WTAQ
  • The Tri-County Community Health Coalition released its first community health needs assessment on Feb. 5 using data from four local health systems and five public health agencies to shape a new Community Health Improvement Plan for Winnebago, Outagamie + Calumet counties.  WBAY

SPORTS NEWS

  • Two Olympic biathletes from Pulaski and Appleton were honored by Rep. Tony Wied on the House floor on Thursday ahead of their competition today in Italy. They will represent Team USA at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games and aim to make history.  FOX 11
