- ➤ Fox Valley shelters are adding emergency beds amid extreme cold. Day by Day Shelter in Oshkosh opened 15 extra beds while Pillars in Appleton increased capacity by up to 20 beds (community partners provide motel vouchers until the weather warms later this week). FOX 11
- ➤ Primrose Retirement Communities, based in Appleton, plans to open an assisted living campus on an 11-acre site at 1700 Marley St. in Howard next couple years after Village Board (7-1) approved the purchase agreement on Jan. 26. Post-Crescent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Educators at Edison Elementary School were surprised with a lounge makeover over winter break (the update came as part of planned renovations) and now enjoy a refreshed space for relaxation on campus. Post-Crescent
- ➤ The school board approved an operational referendum asking voters to fund district operations with $15M a year for four years to support services and student mental health. Public sessions to review details run from Feb. 4 at Madison Middle School + through March 25 at other venues, with no registration required. FOX 11
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Neenah-Menasha Wastewater Treatment Plant in Menasha will undergo a $24-million upgrade to install a cloth disc filtration system that removes phosphorus from effluent, improving water quality before discharge into the Fox River.
